Imagine that you are a wholesaler for dairy products such as yogurt and cheese, which are produced by a cooperative of small farmers. Describe what steps you would take to build relationships with both the producers&mdash;farmers&mdash;and retailers such as supermarkets.

Answer

To the producers:
a)Paying in time. Late payments discourage producers in this case the farmers. It also inconviniences them in terms of buying inputs of production. In time pay ensures producers loyalty.
b) Provide information about the market. As a wholesaler you have different sources of information about the products. Providing producers with this information would ensure they produce correct amounts to avoid wastage and losses.
c) Offer loans. As a wholesaler you could offfer loans to farmers who need additional capital to produce and supply their goods to you.
d) Offer educative forums. As a wholesaler you could oragenize educative forums to farmers on how to enhance their production.
e) Buy all products from the farmers. The biggest worry of any producers is loss. As a wholesaler ensuring purchase of the dairy products produced would encourage their loyalty towards you and continued supply.
 
To the retailers:
a) Supply goods in time. Retailers deal with customers directly. As such they need to avail a product in time for the consumers. Supply of these products within time would ensure loyalty from these retailers.
b) Supply of goods in correct amounts. Retailers need different amounts of the dairy products according to the demand of the products by the consumers. A wholesaler should supply these products in the correct  amounts to the retailers. This would ensure a good relationship with the retailers. 
c) Offering information to the retailers. A wholesaler should supply information to retailers on product availability and future expected shortages.
d) Ensuring correct packaging. While supplying goods to the retailers, a wholesaler should ensure correct amounts and packaging of the dairy products.
