Read the following paper:

https://journals.plos.org/digitalhealth/article?id=10.1371/journal.pdig.0000354

Provide short answers (minimum 200 words total) to the following questions:

A) Did you find the methods to be rigorous? Why/why not? Would you do anything differently? Rigorous in this sense refers to the quality of the science; it could incorporate the sample size, the study procedures, the observational techniques, or any characteristics about the study.

B) Did you find the results to be significant? Why/why not?

C) Did anything surprise you about the paper? What did you think about their overall use of technology in the paper, such as software development, application software, or statistical analysis?

Note 1: There are no inherently right or wrong answers to these questions. All of these articles have been peer-reviewed and published.

Note 2: You may not necessarily understand everything about the research after one read through. This is normal. Some strategies to help with this are to focus on the key points of the paper, or potentially re-reading sections.

Grading criteria

0-2 / 5 – Low quality (content, spelling/grammar) responses, not much evidence of having read sections

3-4 / 5 – Medium quality

5/5 – Good quality
