Some juveniles accused of murder are waived to adult court. A juvenile court judge may decide to waive jurisdiction and send the case to adult court. If the case is transferred to adult court, the offender is treated as an adult and in many cases is subject to the same punishments as adults. The prosecutor represents the interests of the state in bringing a case against a juvenile.
