for the second writing unit, choose one of the following scenarios below. expand the scenario

submission requirements for option 1 and option 2: before you submit portfolio #2
containing the three documents listed below, make sure you have

 followed all directions given in lectures and textbook models
 chosen an appropriate font type and size and, when appropriate, color
 considered the format and overall look of your documents as well as their content

grade determination:

your portfolio will be graded on content, format, overall presentation, and grammar and
mechanics. general point values are as follows:

 persuasive memo 30 points
 recommendation report 40 points
 technical description 30 points

other considerations, such as plagiarism or cheating, may result in a lower grade.

option 1: you are president of the edgecombe community college student government
association. at your college, the members of the student government association have conducted a
survey of the student body to determine what upgrades are needed in the student lounge. according
to the 400 students surveyed, 182 want ____, 98 want ____, 85 prefer ____, 30 desire ____, and 5
respondents have no preference. based on these findings, the sga must establish a top priority and
seek funding for this project from the students, faculty, staff, trustees, and friends of edgecombe
community college.

choose from among the four items listed below, filling in the survey blanks above with the products
using any ranking you choose. remember, the item that you choose to receive 182 votes in the survey
will be the item you will recommend be purchased in the recommendation report. it will be the item that

option 2: you are the chair person of the company improvement fundraising committee at xyz
corporation. at your place of business—the xyz corporation—the board of trustees has chosen a
landscaping project for the new year. according to the survey responses from 500 participants
(workers and clients), 248 people want ____, 127 desire ____, 88 prefer ____, 27 choose ____, and
10 respondents have no preference. based on these survey results, your task force must establish a
top priority and seek funding for this project from the members of the xyz foundation.
