What you’ll be researching: Poverty in Small Towns
Research Question: “Is the curriculum in impoverished neighborhoods equal to that of the rest of the nation?”
Directions (RUBRIC ATTACHED IN FILES BELOW):
- research and analyze the research question using insights of at least two disciplines from at least two (2) different disciplinary categories. For example, a research paper focused on a question on climate change may include insights from Sociology (Social Sciences) and also Marine Science (Natural Sciences).
- Must include a working thesis statement, and body paragraphs. Include an introductory paragraph or conclusion.
- Minimum Page Length: 5 full written pages, double-spaced, size 12-font in Times New Roman (not including the title sheet and/or not including Works Cited/Reference page).
- Minimum # of Sources: At least 6 credible/reliable sources, 2 peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles.
- Citation Format: MLA format
- In-text citations must be used throughout the paper.
- A bibliography page (References or Works Cited) must be included with the research paper, with sources that are properly cited and formatted according to MLA guidelines.
- Expected to paraphrase or summarize information. TurnItIn will be activated.
- Should NOT use first- or second-person pronouns (e.g. I, me, we; you, yours, one). Third-person pronouns are acceptable when discussing sources (e.g. he, she, it; his, her, its; him, her, it; himself, herself, itself; they; them; their; themselves. Names of other people are also considered appropriate for third person use).
