Your comfort level with interviewing clients, using active listening, and expressing empathy, praise, & support is important for your relationship. Case managers need to set clear boundaries from the beginning. Some clients may be hostile, uncooperative, or not be able to distinguish appropriate from inappropriate behaviors within a working relationship. In essence, case managers must be confident, effective communicators.
