OUR: Paul's Epistles Chronology
This assignment will familiarize you with the general overview of Paul’s writings as viewed through the lens of his activities in the book of Acts. The intent of this exercise is to study several chronologies regarding when Paul wrote each of his epistles. Although there is a lot of other historical data and information, focus on the dates for the writing of each epistle and a comparison by different scholars.

Review carefully the chronology of Paul’s life on pages 73-79 in McRay. Pay special attention to the relationship between the references in Acts and the order in which McRay shows that Paul wrote each of the Epistles. Also review McRay’s points on alternate chronologies in recent scholarship.
Find two other suggested chronologies of the writing of Paul’s epistles in two credible sources. A “credible source” could be a well-established Study Bible (Ryrie, Scofield, etc.) or a commentary written by a recognized New Testament scholar. Avoid online sources which do not have credible authority. Although some famous pastors may have a blog or a website, for our purposes they are not considered credible unless they are also recognized as a scholar in New Testament studies.
Compare the three chronologies and note differences that each author sees in the order of Paul’s writings. If possible, understand the reasons behind the differences (i.e., why does one have a particular letter in a different spot than the others?).
Create a chart comparing and contrasting the three chronologies of when Paul wrote his letters. Choose one that you feel is the correct solution to the order of writing. Place that chronology in the first column and the other two beside it.
Write a 1-2 page paper supporting the chart and your choice of chronology by noting the differences in the three, as well as the reasoning why you feel the order you chose is the correct one. Be sure that you use proper referencing when quoting authors and provide a bibliography formatted correctly. The following components should be included in the paper.
A chart of the three chronologies
Short comments explaining your choice and the differences
Proper citation and Reference page for sources
Provide at least two academic sources to support your analysis.
