Question

Balancing Chemical Equations Practice

Balance the following chemical equations. Type a number in the blanks to make the equation correct. I would like you to give this a try, but do not panic if you struggle with it. I will not ask you these questions on the test. I will do the first one as an example.

1.  __3_ Fe +  __2_ O2  =__1_ Fe3O4

The number of each element must be the same on each side of the equals sign. There is 3 Fe on the left and 3 Fe on the right side. There is 4 O on the left side and 4 O on the right side. This is a balanced equation.

2.  ___ Sr +  ___ O2 = ___  SrO

3.   ___ Sn +   ___ NaOH  = ___  Na2SnO2 +   ___ H2

4.   ___ K +  ___ Br2  = ___ KBr

5.   ___ C8H18 + ___  O2  = ___  CO2 +  ___ H2O

6.   ___ Sb +  ___ I2  = ___  SbI3

7.   ___ COCl2 +  ___ H2O  = ___  HCl + ___  CO2

8.   ___ CS2 +  ___ O2  = ___  CO2 + ___  SO2

9.  ___ H2SO4 +  ___ NaCN  = ___  HCN +  ___ Na2SO4

10.   ___ KClO3  = ___ KCl +  ___ O2

11.   ___ H2 +  ___ F2 = ___   HF

12.    ___BaCl2 +  ___ KIO3  = ___  Ba(IO3)2 +  ___ KCl

13.   ___ Mg +  ___ HCl  = ___  MgCl2 +  ___ H2
