Communication

Question

I agree that visual aids are awesome for presenting any type of communication to a group of people. We all learn just a little different and it offers a great experience when you can put together a awesome presentation that all can enjoy. Sometimes a visual aid can make or break a presentation however I have found that it is best to practice your visual aids and your speech together for someone who can give you good feedback. It can be very awkward to give a speech if your visual aids and speech do no line up together. I have found that visual aids help you be able to talk about the presentation and offer the ability to stay on task without having to have so many notes within the presentation. Visual aids allow me to remember where I am and what I am covering like topics and bullet points. This creates the idea the speaker is knowledgeable and on point and makes the group able to concentrate at the presentation and trust the speaker.

Most people would use a poster board when they are instructing small children. As a volunteered at a head start, I found that using a poster board works better than showing pictures because on a poster board, the children can get involved, and they can post their pictures, which interaction is the key to anything. The problem when using the poster board is when you have to turn your back to the kids you have lost their attention and they will quickly move on to something else that is more interesting.

When using video, you can place many different types of illustrations for your audience to see. With video, there is no limit. The animation that can be used in the video can keep your audience's attention for a long period, but the drawback is technical problems. If the video began to skip or stop, the audience's attention is now on what you are doing to fix the video and no on what you will say after the video is fixed. You have lost the interest of the audience.

Using PowerPoint, you can make give information interesting, using pictures and words together can give a better understanding of what you are presenting to the audience. Using PowerPoints makes it easier to persuade the audience because you can show them pictures with words and still talk to them about what you are showing them.
