Communication

Question

I have two responsed  question answer i want to write about what i think

1.    Aside from a speaker's words, non-verbal elements such as their facial expression, posture, body movement, and voice characteristics convey a message as well. To appear more credible to an audience, it's important that a speaker's nonverbal communication conveys the same message as their words. Additionally, some of these non-verbal elements may be limited or need to be adapted according to the medium. For example, while vigorous or swift body movements may be acceptable during in-person presentations, they are often jarring on camera. As such, body movements and gestures should be scaled down for teleconferences or webinars. Further, when speakers are limited in their usual non-verbal communication they should give additional thought to aspects that they can control, such as their appearance and posture, making eye contact with the camera, and keeping their real audience in mind.

2.    In my own presentations, I feel that I could work on my pace. Oftentimes I catch myself starting off at a slower pace but then speeding up by the middle of my presentation. This semester, I'm going to work on keeping my pacing consistent throughout my presentations.

Non-verbal elements used would be body language, such as facial expressions, your posture and gestures. Eye contact, most us look to seek information in the eyes of the speaker. You can tell if someone is completely interested in what it is they are presenting by looking at there eyes.

Non-verbal elements can be limited by not seeing the speakers full body language, posture and gestures. Eye contact by teleconference or webinar would be harder for the speaker to due seems how it will look a lot like they are searching the screen. Maintaining and using your facial expressions, minding your posture and gestures, and being aware of tones and sounds could help with relaying messages more effectively when we are limited in our non-verbal communication.

I personally, need to work on my pace, I get nervous and seem to speed up when I am talking. I also think I could probably benefit from working on my gestures and posture. Although, right now I try to do my speeches in the most comfortable position for me with being pregnant. I would much rather be able to either stand and give my speeches, or at the very least sit on one of my kitchen chairs to do my speeches.
