(a) In 1964, the temperature in the Siberian village of Oymyakon reached 71&deg;C. What temperature is this on the Fahrenheit scale? (b) The highest officially recorded temperature in the continental United States was 134&deg;F in Death Valley, California. What is this temperature on the Celsius scale?

To solve this question, you will need one equation: Fahrenheit = Celsius * 1.800 + 32
 
(a)
Fahrenheit = Celsius * 1.800 + 32
Fahrenheit = 71C * 1.800 + 32
Fahrenheit = 127.8C + 32
Fahrenheit = 159.8 F
 
To solve B, just rearrange the inital equation (see attachment)!
(b)
Celsius = (Fahrenheit - 32) / 1.800
Celsius = (134F - 32) / 1.800
Celsius = 102F / 1.800
Celsius = 56.66666 (or 56.67C)
