Sound paragraph (10%) - due July 23rd 2018 A scene from The Conversation (1974) has been uploaded to the course’s Vimeo account. A link and password for the clip are posted on cuLearn. Listen to the scene carefully several times, with headphones if possible. Write a half-page paragraph analyzing a single auditory detail of the scene, relating it to a specific technique of sound design. The sound element you choose to analyze can be from any part of the scene. Form an argument about what you think is the ideology being expressed through sound. Use 1 brief quote from one of the assigned readings to support your argument. Do not write about the sound design throughout the entire scene. Do not write about more than one particular sound design technique. Once you have chosen the sound design technique that you will write about, do not discuss every instance of it being used throughout the entire scene. Write your paragraph in essay style (no bullet points or numbering). Use letter size paper (8.5” x 11”) with 1” margins. Write in Times New Roman font, 12 pt. size and doublespaced. A half-page paragraph should consist of 10 - 12 lines of text. Print your name in the top left corner on the page. Include a Work Cited list at the bottom of the page.
