Naturalistic Observation

This Assignment assesses the following course outcome:

PS510-2: Formulate research strategies involving designing, collecting, and analyzing qualitative data in naturalistic settings

In a 3–4-page essay, describe a phenomenon that you would like to study using naturalistic observation. You will conduct this mini-study. The duration will be for 1 hour. In your field notes, you are to record:
•The setting
•The time in which you completed this observation
•The people and circumstances being studied
•The phenomena you are interested in finding information on
•Your interpretation of the events that took place

Make sure to include your original sensitizing concept and record what does not happen, as well as body language and your interpretations of these items.

Explain the process you followed for your inquiry using the text and other references. Using these references, you will also explain how follow-up research should be conducted and how you would use the results of your observation.

Along with the text, use a minimum of two scholarly journals, books, articles, or other academic sources. You will find many journal articles pertaining to naturalistic observation and the specific areas covered.

The Assignment should:
•Follow Assignment directions (review grading rubric for best results).
•Use correct APA formatting per the APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition.
•Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard American English.
•Be clear, specific, and error free. 
Your Assignment should include the following:
•Title page
•Abstract
•Body of the paper (3–4 pages)
•Reference page

Submitting your Assignment

Put your Project in a Word document. Save it in a location that you will remember and with your full name along with the class number. When you are ready to submit it to the unit dropbox.

To meet the writing requirement, you will need to demonstrate the use of clear communication that is well ordered, unified, and insightful. Work will display proper content for the Project, as well as proper organization, grammar, paragraphs, mechanics, and APA writing style.
