1) COUNTING RULESWhen a selection of elements is made from a set, the number of possible outcomes depend on the conditions of selection. Following are the 4 types of counting rules:Multiplicative rule, permutations rule, partitions rule, combinations rule2) Multiplication rule is often called as basic counting rule due to the straight forwardness and basic idea behind it.Idea is if 1 operation can be done in n ways and other operation can be done in m ways, both the operations can be  done in n x m ways.eg. a dice and a coin, total no. of possible outcomes= 6x2=123) Permutations can be linked to arrangements. It tells, in how many different ways n distinct objects can be arranged.The first object can be chosen in n ways, second object in n-1 ways and so on. It tells, in how many different ways we can select a set of size r from a bigger set of n distinct objects.
