After reading “Spurs” you need to write a 3-4 page response paper using either the Freudian critical lens or the Jungian critical lens; it’s your choice.
 
Freudian Lens:  Analyze the story using the Freudian critical lens.  You should be able to use some, if not all, of the key Freudian terms in your analysis; plus, the id, ego, superego, and Freud's psychosexual development theories.  Essentially, you are positing an argument and defending your argument with evidence from the text.  The expectation is you will write at least three to four significant pages in your response to reading.  You should have at least 4-5 examples from the text.
 
Jungian Lens:  Analyze the story using the Jungian critical lens.  You should be able to use plot, character, situations, symbols and association, and Jung’s psychological/personality terms. As with Freud, you are positing an argument and defending your argument with evidence from the text.   The expectation is you will write at least three to four significant pages in your response to reading.  You should have at least 4-5 examples from the text.
