CASE STUDY WEEK 3
ROBBERY CASE STUDY 1
Facts: On June 14, 2014, a deputy was dispatched to a convenience store on report of a robbery. Upon arrival the deputy made contact with the clerk from the store and upon interviewing the clerk discovered the following information.
The clerk advised that a white male in his late 40’s approached the counter of the convenience store and stated “give me your money.”
The clerk advised she though the individual was joking and told him he was not getting any money.
The male then stated “Give me all the money out of the register now!”
Again the clerk responded she was not giving him any money.
The male then stated “You don’t know where my gun is.”
The clerk replied “I know where my gun is!” and proceeded to pull her .45 caliber handgun from under the counter and point it at the male suspect.
At which time the male stated “Ain’t that something.” The suspect promptly exited the convenience store.
Another customer in the store advised officers that he asked the clerk if she knew the guy and she said “no” so he proceeded outside the convenience store when the suspect fled and wrote down the Ohio registration number. The suspect was a passenger in the vehicle that fled. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and its owner. Officers also requested video surveillance from the store.
