Not only was Joey one of the few men who worked in his unit, but he was also the only white person in this unit.</span> </p> <p class="plain_text" style="text-align:left" awml:style="Plain Text"> <span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Arial'">Often Joey would have problems communicating with fellow employees. He spoke only English and the black women who worked around him seemed to have a language of their own. Also, several women in his unit were Hispanic and only spoke Spanish to each other. The black women did not seem to mind since all of them could speak Spanish also. After a couple of weeks, Joey realized that when he heard laughter, the women were often looking at him and were saying something in Spanish.
