Introduction:
The Centre of Medicare and Medicaid Services is lawmaking body that enforces hospitals and other health care institutions to abide by certain rules and conditions to provide optimum levels of health care. The rules and guidelines also provide minimum health and safety standards to start a new venture in Medicare and receive reimbursement. This paper discusses the core measures stated by CMS standards and the aspects of building strong relationships in health and Medicare. (CMS.gov, 2012).
The core measures laid by the CMS Standards define a list of values and principles to follow by the health care institutions to provide treatment to patients belonging to all age groups. The key reason behind defining such conditions is to implement stability and flexibility in health care services. Before I discuss the recommended core measures for patients I would like to focus on the selection process which defined the measures to be taken. Several factors were analyzed and the following conditions were concluded.
Conditions that promote morbidity and mobilityConditions that focus national health prioritiesConditions that solve health disparitiesConditions to control excess health care costs and enhance quality of health care
After concluding the above conditions the following measures were recommended.
For Adults:
Measures to control high blood pressureRestrict individuals from taking drugs, alcohols and tobacco rich productsRecord and list of all kinds of medications and services provided by the health institutionMeasures to control body pain by promoting ergonomics and importance of maintaining proper BMI (Body Mass Index)Thorough and detailed assessment of patients during chronic and deadly diseases
For Children’s:
Detailed and accurate testing for children’s suffering from PharyngitisSurveys, assessment and counseling aimed towards maintain healthy nutrition levels for infants and adolescentsPromoting the need of maintaining immunization standardsProper medications for Asthma and other respiratory diseasesMeasures to control stress, depression and care for children’s suffering from diseases like ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)Prevention against dental decay or cavity
As compared to the guidelines proposed by the organizations over one other they prove supplementary over CMS standards as the rules proposed contain more emphasis on increasing health care facilities. These guidelines provide Medicare in order to reduce costs and provide high quality care. Apart from this organizations promote supplying its patients with quality medications and facilities to enhance optimum health care. They also include nursing and physicians facilities that are required for establishing environments for healthy living. Hospitals analyze the medical records of patients and use the data to develop strategies for their cure with use of scientific methods and technology. This methodology of timely and effective care used by health care institutions do not require enough risk assessment as they do not include treatments that are inappropriate for the patients.
Coming to the relationships among various aspects of health care quality and safety, it’s very important for hospital and other health care units to abide by the general rules and regulations and provide standardized care and treatment to all its patients. Organizations should get themselves accredited from national health institutions to receive proper guidelines for providing care. The national accreditation standards, policymakers, researchers and providers should be renowned and certified to process health care systems that relate to patients care and safety.
The influence of health and care in the form of studies is an important aspect. Frequent training of nurses and staffs on health issues lead to quality and empowerment. Education and training helps build relationships and promote motivation among individuals. Research and development on medicines and treatment procedures will help to design new methods of cure with the successful use of science and technology. (Patricia W. Stone, Ronda Hughes, Maureen Dailey, 2007).
A managed health care system helps the management and its staffs to make easy judgments related to quality health care. Some of the major advantages and disadvantages in promoting quality can be summarized as:
Advantages:
Monetary: Health care providers on providing health care that would save money of the patients and even provide financial help to many individuals in need.Quality of service: Nurses are trained to provide good quality of care and staffs are supposed to maintain safety, security and cleanliness for healthy environment. (Brenda Coxe, 1999).
Disadvantages:
Decision making: Often different physicians tend to propose different levels of treatment to individuals for the purpose of maintaining quality.Under-pricing: Doctors often refer medicines with low costs in order to save money. But often this conditions fails and the patient’s health seem to deteriorate due to inappropriate medications. (Brenda Coxe, 1999).
Therefore for the purpose of promoting high levels of health care cooperation and relationships play a major role and individuals should understand the importance of these factors and promote skills and knowledge to enhance education and professional value. Emphasizing training and education will give the health care units competitive advantage over others. Health care organizations need to do enough research and development on the market conditions and design medications and offer treatment based on latest use of creativity, innovation and technology.
