Introduction
In the course of our lives, we as human beings experience different feelings as with developed and grow. Among these feelings is fear. There is one of the many emotions that would develop when we are young and continues to grow at different levels as we advance in age. It is an unpleasant feeling caused by our awareness of the danger or consequences that surround us.
Our daily lives are surrounded and significantly formed by fears which means that we cannot escape the experience of fear (Taschereau-Dumouchel, Cortese, Chiba, Knotts, Kawato & Lau, 2018). Fear takes different forms and exhibits itself in different ideas such as inequality, discrimination objectification, etc.
This paper aims to explore fear in film and how it takes different shapes in bodies and how these bodies rehearse deep-seated ideas on inequality discrimination and objectification through the analysis of two films V for Vendetta and Contagion.
From the beginning of the year, the world has experienced different phenomena that have more than clearly instilled fear and brought the worst out of people. At the beginning of 2020, the world was shocked by the news of coronavirus (Covid-19) a virus that was spread through touch or contact with an infected person(World Health Organization, 2020). if you had previously watched the film Contagion it will be difficult for you to be convinced that the producers and directors of the film did not have an idea for a glimpse of the future. The events that unfolded in the next months after the announcement of the virus are almost a carbon copy of the events that transpired in the film. People rushed to stores to purchase foods and medicine due to fear which led to most stores running out of basic supplies and leaving a majority of the population without basic supplies. Additionally, there were numerous rumors and propaganda on its origin, vaccines, and treatments for Covid-19 (Andrea Shalal, 2020).
