o position papers provide evidence to support the author's claims and persuade the audience to accept their stance.

o make sure you have enough data to support your topic

o make sure your supportive data is peer-reviewed

there will be a minimum of three peer-reviewed

each resource will take the reader directly to your resource

create an outline:

o using your thesis statement and notes, create an outline with three main parts

§ introduction- introduce the topic and your thesis or position for the paper. provide background information or explain why this topic is important. start with an interesting sentence to draw the readers' attention. then, introduce your topic and end with the thesis statement, which reveals your position and summarizes your reasons.

· body- this section contains your arguments or claims with supporting evidence. shorter position papers often have three body paragraphs, while longer pieces have multiple sections with several paragraphs. the first paragraph includes an argument with at least two facts of evidence to support it. the second paragraph has the second argument with supporting evidence. the third paragraph has a third argument with supporting evidence.

§ conclusion- the final section of your paper emphasizes your claims and summarizes your essay.

for now, create an outline only for this position paper not the full paper.
