Question

A system of water pumping is shown in the figure: water flow from the basin up to the reservoir. Total length of the pipe if L=100m an it is smooth. The pipe velocity is 5 m/2 and the height H is 10 m. Pipe inlet and outlet are sharp edged and all bends are 90 degrees flanged (see data about the curves). The pump has an efficiecy of 80% and a power of 10kW. Negligible viscous losses for the entering and exiting flows through the pump.

A) STATE THE SIMPLIFIED MACROSCOPIC ENERGY BALANCE IN HEADS AND MENTION THE ASSUMPIONS MADE.
B) STATE THE TOTAL HEAD LOSS EXPRESSION
C) CALCULATE THE PIPE DIAMETER WHILE EXPLAINING THE CALCULATION STEPS
D) IS A TACO PUMP MODEL 4013 OPERATING AT 1160 rpm SUITABLE FOR THIS SYSTEM? WHY?
