Research Essay

The purpose of this assignment is for you to exercise your ability to constructively respond art with communicative purpose. Compose a 2500-word research essay - (not including bibliography, citations, or images) on the following topic

Topic:

Choose a contemporary BIPOC Canadian artist.  You are to discuss the social and political concerns inherent in their work.  What is their message?  How do they believe that art can institute social change and awareness?  You must discuss at least three distinct examples of the artist and their work to support your argument.

Sources Needed are (2 academic articles, 2 eBooks and 1-website)

Assignment Guidelines:

Assignments are to be written in 12-point Times New Roman font and must be double spaced. Margins are to be normal- not wide or thin. Citations are all to be done in CMOS 17th ed. Footnotes please. If your formatting is off- you will lose marks. 

Essays must have an introduction, thesis statement (in italics), main body paragraphs and a conclusion. A bibliography and links to each articles, eBooks and website is required.

Images are expected in an art history essay, if you are discussing 3 works of art, you should have at least 3 images, etc.
