Question

Reading Journals- (3 individual entries)- Write a (minimum) 500-word type-written response for each of the 3 sections of the Foltz book as broken up below (this assignment is 1500 words total at a minimum). Individual entries less than 500 words will receive a grade of zero. These journals are not summaries, although you may end up summarizing in part, they are your chance to reflect on the readings with special attention to the questions below. However, do not type the questions in your journal, and do not use any special page breaks. It is ok to address these questions as separate paragraphs, but the journal should integrate these questions into your overall response and reflection of the text. In addition to your general thoughts and feelings on the text, your reflection should address:

1. How did this section of the book fit into the overall argument of the author?

2. How did this text inform, challenge, or reinforce your ideas, understandings, and/or beliefs about what you know about Silk Road in this time period?

3. What are the implications of this part of the text for your understanding of what the “Silk Road” was? (Give a specific example or two from the text.)

4. What themes that are discussed in this section connect to other places and times in this course? How does it compare?
