Question

The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.”  Proverbs 20:5

This Proverb reminds us that the study and understanding of peoples’ actions and purposes in life are both possible and of value. To help someone overcome a problem, we must know something about his or her motivation. The book of Proverbs provide several reasons why people act the way they do. When motivation is uncovered, a positive solution can be given to help hurting people.

As this course addresses motivation and the complexities of personality, keep in mind the practical implications of how you might apply personality theory.

  • Reflect on a time when you were unsuccessful in helping or comforting someone only to understand their true motivation later.
  • What would you do differently if you had a second chance?
  • How might your knowledge from this course inspire a more positive outcome?
  • Which scripture(s) would guide your thoughts and actions?
