The author of this article has made sure to use all the rhetorical appeals to us the readers. They have used pathos to appeal to the reader emotionally, ethos for the purpose of the ethical appeal and logos to communicate to us logically.</span> </p> <p> <span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'">There are several instances where the authors Vynck and Lerman have used the rhetorical appeal of pathos. The author appeals to our emotions when they talk about the dangers of this cyber-attack. They clarify that apart from this attack bringing economic problems it will bring tension between America and Russia where the suspected gang is perceived to come from. It stirs the emotions of fear. Also when the authors mention that sometime back schools’ systems were hacked and ransoms were demanded. It stirs the emotions of anger, as reader you feel the attackers have gone too far.</span> </p> <p> <span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'">Ethos has also been used to convince the readers of the article. For starters, the authors present themselves as knowledgeable and reliable when they can mention among others a few cyber-attacks that have been experienced before. For instance, they talk about the May attack on the colonial pipeline. It makes a reader see how the authors are invested in the issue and be relied on. Also the explanation of which malware was used against Kaseya Company shows us that the authors did their</span> <a name="_GoBack"> </a> <span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'"> research. They said the malware used is Wannacry computer worm and it was created in North Korea. This is very informative on the reader’s path. The authors also have explained how the hackers are able to control the business cites.They also proved to be trustworthy when the afflicted company said that only 40 businesses were affected, the author looked for a second opinion that seemed to think it is over 1000 businesses that were attacked through Kaseya. With this revelation the authors seems to resonate with their readers by standing for the truth.</span> </p> <p> <span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'">Signature of logos are also all over the article. They are using the logical explanations to get their reader’s attention. They try to make us understand the cause and effect of the cyber-attack. The attackers used the Wannacry worm and the effect is that the economy is disturbed and shortages are to be experienced in different sectors and to top it all it will cause attention between the said countries. The authors brought in experts that could talk about the issues from an expertise point of view. Fabian Wosar came in and assured people that the attackers were not after the businesses’ information but they want to cripple the businesses until a ransom is paid. He compared this attack to others that had happened before and concluded that this is one of the biggest cyber-attacks to happen in America.
