Naming conventions are essential to managing an effective execution of files and folders
in the Windows environment. This is because any user can be able to search for documents and
review them. The user can locate and even decipher exact documents in minimal time and effort.
Documents should be named in a consistent and logical and most important in a predictable way.
This would be in order to distinguish documents that are similar from one another at a glance.
Windows 7 and Windows 8 all have diverse features. Some of the characteristics of
Windows 7 are as follows: Windows 7 has the start button which has been at the same position
since it first appeared in Windows 95. Windows 7 has a start menu and an aero glass theme
graphical theme that is also seen in windows vista. Windows 7 also has flip 3D windows
switching. It is considered cool and stylish. Windows 7 has other features like DVD playback
and also the desktop gadgets. These gadgets include calendar, clock, contacts, notes, stocks, the
weather among others.
Some of the characteristics in Windows 8 are as follows. Instead of a visible start button,
Windows 8 has a point on the bottom left corner of the screen that reveals the hidden start
button. Also due to its metro style theme, Windows 8 does not have an aero glass theme. In the
place of the flip grid, Windows 8 has a modern user interface app switcher. It is accessible by
moving the mouse up from bottom left edge to upper left corner. This version of Windows does
not have a DVD playback and the desktop gadgets. However, some of the gadgets will appear
automatically on the start screen.
One feature, which differs Windows 7 from Windows 8.1 is that the boot time for
Windows 8.1 is much faster. This version of Windows has a hybrid boot mode that allows the
3
computer to up a lot more quickly. It has a kernel that lets it hibernate instead of shutting doesn"t completely then it uses cores that help it start up in seconds.
The Metro style theme can be said to have worsened the Windows 8.1. The Windows 7
desktop is much preferred due to its classic and familiarity. The Metro style theme is said to pop
up even when it"s not needed. This theme would take some getting used to by the users.
However, the security booting on the UEFI systems which is in the Windows 8.1 has
greatly improved security on the computer. It makes it harder for malware to infect the boot
loader. This feature is set as default ensuring good security.
