Each social group has one or more leaders, regardless its reasons of existence or objectives. A leader can enhance or slow down the group performance. The way he or she communicates is a core component for that. A real leader will know how to build a strong and beneficial relationship with the subordinates, by implementing the proper communication skills. When it comes to communication skills, the concept seems simple but it’s very complex. As a basic definition, communication is the tool and method used for exchanging information between a sender and a receiver. For a leader, communication is his most important tool (Scott-Cawiezell, Schenkman, Moore, Vojir, Connolly, Pratt, Palmer, 2004). Whit its help, the leader can change the individual and collective motivation mechanism and it can implement new changes and provide feedback for improvement and correction. For a nursing professional, communication will also tighten up the health care provider-patient relationship, by bringing a personal and human touch to it. Gaining the patient’s trust will improve the perceived quality of the medical care act and it could also speed up the healing process. Today, medical information is widely available for the patient, with many sources to choose from.
